  1. Adeboye Adegbenro Says:

    Hi Walter,
Thanks a lot for your generousity. I have read so much about the lighting and composite passes and taught various concepts related to that. I am working on a 2d/3d animated movie this year and will need all the help regarding technical stuff I am yet to acquire, especially lighting passes and camera projection. I will be using 3ds Max mostly, since it’s been my choice for over 7 years now. Every bit of your blog is entertaining as well as educational. My question would be, if I may ask, that could you elaborate more on the light rigs for the ambient? Wishing you the best.

Hey adeboye, most packages have an ambient light type (in addition to infinite, point, spot, etc.) My setup just simulates that type of light by having light come equally from all directions. That was easier than using XSI’s built in ambience which is done as part of the shader.

I really like the way the smoke is done, never would have thought of doing it that way.
Going to have to read up on that as well now !
